The Corona Virus affects Dental Hygiene Abroad

Because dental professionals are uniquely vulnerable when it comes to the transmission of upper respiratory diseases, we are unsure about just how much risk to take on to help our patients. For many dental offices in Bavaria Germany, the last couple of weeks have been filled with staff meetings and discussions about what to do and when to call it quits. For instance, our office and others faced, and are still facing, a critical shortage of masks and gloves. Then, as of Wednesday, 18 March, the Bavarian government announced the closure of all non-essential businesses. You can read more about that here.

Historic and Culinary tour of Augsburg Germany

Eat-the-world.com provides culinary and historic walking tours in Augsburg. Our tour guide was a student at the local university. She did well with providing interesting facts, taking us to worthwhile stops and keeping things moving. This tour allowed us to appreciate the city in a new light and showed us some nice places to visit again. Augsburg has many cool boutique shops and restaurants to discover. The city is definitely worth a stopover while you travel the romantic road in Germany.

What is dental hygiene preceptorship, really? Are you a preceptorship trained ‘hygienist’? If not, do you know any? Have you ever worked with one? I work with them every day. I assure you that a preceptorship trained ‘hygienist’ is no less proud of her title than I am.

So who, would you say, should rightly bear the title ‘dental hygienist’? Do you even need a college degree to practice dental hygiene? I mean, it’s just cleaning teeth after all, right? I’ve taken the liberty to provide a few facts about the training received on both ends of the scale. Then I’ll let you decide for yourself whether preceptorship is good for dental hygiene or not.
